In total there are 3 rivers for rafting in Bali. We have chosen the two best rivers for you:
- Ayung river rafting
Ayung river is located on the south Gianyar, at a place called Ubud. The car ride takes about 1.5 hours. Sometimes the driver stops at a coffee plantation nearby. On arrival at the rafting venue, they provide a complimentary cup of coffee or tea. After the helmets and lifejackets are distributed, your guide will give you a short instruction and then you’re ready!
The river level starts at level 2 and it becomes level 4 during rainy season. Perfect option for a family or a group of people who seek fun but are beginners. Along the river, you will see stone carvings on the river bank wall. Sometimes you can find local people who are showering in the river, this tradition stays in Bali. A rest room is provided, for showering you will also get a fresh towel. Lunch buffet is served after rafting at the restaurant.
- Telaga Waja river rafting
The driver will pick you up from your accommodation and take you to Telaga Waja River. The ride is about 2 hours long through Balinese villages. Sometimes the driver stops at a coffee plantation. On arrival at the rafting venue, they provide a complimentary cup of coffee or tea. After the helmets and lifejackets are distributed, your guide will give you a short instruction and then you’re ready! The river level starts at level 3 and it becomes level 5 during rainy season, this is the best time to do it if you are an adrenalin junkie. This makes the difference between Ayung river and Telaga waja river. The rafting starts in a small river which flows into the actual Telaga Waja River. You will pass the nearly unspoiled jungle, the Muncan village and a lot of natural waterfalls. The guide will give you the opportunity to stop to take some photos at the waterfall. Sometimes you have to watch your head because lianes might be hanging down, or the group has to jump inside of the boat because it’s pinned between the rocks. The rafting tour lasts about 2,5 hours. At the end you will jump down a waterfall of around 5 meters high. This is the highlight of the trip! At this point your adrenalin will reach its peak. A rest room is provided, for showering you will also get a fresh towel. Lunch buffet is served after rafting in the restaurant overlooking the mighty river.
Tips You can bring your camera and mobile phone with you, they will be held safe in a waterproof bag. If you already have a water-resistant camera, a GoPro for example, you can fix it on your helmet. But please watch your head with hanging lianes! Also pay attention to your sandals, it’s best to give them to your guide at the beginning of the rafting. During the rafting you can take a break along the riverside. There are cool drinks being sold, bear in mind these are not included in your rafting fee.
